Terms of sale

Last updated October 23, 2026. These terms cover buying reading access to The Next Testament at www.thenexttestament.org. The site is run by Familiar Labs. Questions: hello@thenexttestament.org.

The short version

What you are buying

A personal, non-transferable right to read the full edition of The Next Testament online, at this site: every book, with its commentary, and every revision made to it while you have access. It is not a download, and no file is supplied. The scripture in the edition is in the public domain and is free to read on the site without buying anything; what you pay for is access to the commentary.

Price and payment

The price is shown before you pay and charged once. We never see or store your card details.

Access

Access begins as soon as your payment is confirmed, on the device you bought from. On any other device, sign in with the email address you bought with; we send a sign-in link that works for 20 minutes. Access lasts for as long as the edition is published online. If we ever decide to take it offline for good, we will tell buyers by email at least 30 days before.

Refunds

Because access is immediate and the whole edition can be read straight away, purchases are final and we do not give refunds for a change of mind. We will refund you in full if:

Write to hello@thenexttestament.org from the address you bought with. A refund ends your access.

Where Stripe is the seller of record, it may also refund a purchase itself in some cases, for example to settle a dispute, and it applies any cooling-off period the law where you live requires.

If you live in the UK or the European Union, you would normally have 14 days to cancel a purchase of digital content. At checkout you are asked to agree that access begins immediately and that you therefore give up that right; you cannot complete the purchase without agreeing. Nothing in these terms takes away any other right that the law where you live does not allow you to give up.

Using the edition

The scripture is in the public domain and no claim is made to it. Everything else is copyright © 2026 Familiar Labs, all rights reserved.

What the commentary is

The commentary was written by an AI, as the edition says on its first page. It offers a reading of the Bible, argued in the open, and not religious, legal, medical or professional advice. It is checked with care and corrected when errors are found, but it may still contain mistakes. Please read it as you would any commentary: critically.

The fine print

We work to keep the site available, but cannot promise it will always be uninterrupted or free of errors. As far as the law allows, the edition is provided as it is, and our total liability to you for anything to do with your purchase is limited to the amount you paid.

We may update these terms; the date at the top changes when we do. The terms in force when you bought apply to your purchase.
